About ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’

The first book of this series, written by Daniel Handler, became popular soon after its publication. The author went on to write twelve more books in the series.  After its commercial success and critical acclaim, Paramount Pictures created a movie in 2004 based off the book starring Emily Browning, Meryl Steep, Jim Carey and Jude Law.

The books have sold over 65 million copies around the world.  Now, the Paramount Pictures and Netflix are bringing these characters on the small screen for the upcoming TV Series ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’.

This series will be executive produced by Barry Sonnenfield and Daniel Handler, the writer of the novel. The story features three orphans; Sunny, Klaus, and Violet Baudelaire.  After their parents pass away, they are sent to live with the evil Count Olaf who puts them in his custody to steal their inheritance.  The three orphans try their hardest to uncover the mysteries of their parent’s death by outwitting Count Olaf at every step.

Casting Directors are Looking for Lead Child Roles

The casting team of the series is in search for the lead roles of Violet and Klaus. The casting team is on worldwide search for child actors that fit the description. The show is now in production and the team is holding online video auditions for the lead roles. The submission deadline for auditions is January 28th, 2016.  Those who are applying must remember that these are speaking roles and the characters have to be regular on the series.

    Is it still open/running? The deadline was 2016 some confirmation about status would be nice. I’m 14 and looking to get into film acting, I have some experience but not lots and only ever in theater.
